This fascinating Green Lake trek takes you to the base of Kanchenjunga Mountain Peak – the third highest in the world. Among all other Sikkim treks, Green Lake has comparatively challenging stretches, which the hikers can negotiate with previous high-altitude trekking experience. However, the sprawling landscape dotted with turquoise glacial lakes, wild pastures roamed by wild sheep herds and spotless blue sky under which dominates the gorgeous Kanchenjunga Massif reaching 8586 meters give you a rewarding experience.
The hike starts from Lachen – a small nomadic settlement in North Sikkim at 2700 meters with few hotels, and soon you will reach the vibrant highlands of the Greater Himalayan wilderness climbing up to 5500 meters. After leaving Lachen, you will spend the next 8-9 days in alpine-type tents surrounded by stunning nature, and our trekking crew will take care of the rest of the logistics. Apart from the scenic beauties, the trek to Green Lake offers a rare opportunity to observe the fascinating bird, mammalian and floral life in this harsh Himalayan terrain, unmatched and mostly undiscovered.
