Dirang

At a distance of 42 km from Bomdila, Dirang in West Kameng District comes on the way to Tawang. Its main attraction is trekking and bird watching. Mandala Phudong, 28 km away from Dirang, is an ideal place for bird watching. Dirang is famous for flora and fauna. Also, it is a place for various medicinal plants.

A fort called Dirang Jong is situated here, it was built in 1831. The fort is a four-storied fortified stone building atop a hill constructed by the Khochilu, the Sharchokpa, the Attajepu and the Dirkhipa of the Monapa clan. Judicial activity, public administration and military centres were here. The fort was made big enough to accommodate the entire village. This is the land of Apple and Kiwi orchards. The Apple Nursery and Kiwi farm are situated across the river valley. The colour and taste are unique because they are free from chemical fertilisers.
